Having covered just 19,500 miles with only 2 owners, and with an MOT valid until 4 September 2026, this is a remarkable example of one of Mercedes-Benz’s most iconic grand tourers.
Powered by a smooth and refined 4.2L V8 petrol engine paired with an automatic gearbox, the SL 420 delivers effortless cruising performance with classic Mercedes-Benz engineering and build quality. One of just 2,148 SL 420 models produced, this is among the rarest variants of the revered R107 series and is fast becoming highly collectible.
This beautifully preserved example was owned by a father and daughter for 31 years, before being acquired by a collector. In 2020, it underwent a £15,000+ recommissioning by The SL Shop, including replacement of most perishable rubber components, much of the braking system, and numerous additional items, along with four new Michelin tyres. It has also recently had a new rear silencer, finished in the correct factory dark grey.
Specified from new with a dark brown soft top perfectly complementing the Willow Green paintwork and beige leather interior, the car also benefits from a limited slip differential, colour-coded hardtop (unmarked), and even retains its full book pack with original PDI form, service invoices, and previous MOT certificates.
The exterior is described as arrow straight, while the interior is flawless, with the seats, carpets, door cards, wood inlays, and dashboard all preserved in superb condition, having been garaged and kept out of sunlight for most of its life.
